Rose d'Or Special Prizes

Best of 2008
A special jury, made up of members of the Festival Jury, will award a special prize for the best programme from the total of competition entries.

New! Best Entertainer
This year the Rose d’Or Festival will be honouring the Best Entertainer. During the preselection, the expert jury selected 10 performers from all categories (actors, game show hosts, etc.) from the programmes entered into the Rose d’Or Competition. At the festival in May 2008, the Festival Jury will choose the Best Entertainer from these ten nominees.

Honorary Rose
The Honorary Rose is presented to an individual who has made a significant impact on the television industry. Past Honorary Rose recipients include: Benny Hill, Quincy Jones, Monty Python, John de Mol, Herb Granath, Ricky Gervais, and Ben Elton in 2007.

The Juries

To create the jury for the competition, the festival organisers consider cultural diversity (North/South, America/ Europe, Orient/Occident), a balance between state and commercial broadcasters, a fair representation for independent producers, and much more.

There are two juries that partake ion the festival. The first is the Preselection Jury. This jury is responsible for narrowing down the total number of competition entries and selecting the nominees for the competition at the festival. The second is the Festival Jury. These jurors are responsible for choosing the winners in each category from the nominees.

Jurors are considered for their expertise in their field and judge the categories they are specialised in.
