About Rose d'Or  | Freddy Burger Management
Freddy Burger Management

At the beginning of October 2006, Freddy Burger, proprietor of the Freddy Burger Management Group, acquired the Rose d’Or trademark, thus guaranteeing the future of this universally important festival of Television Entertainment and Cultural Exchange. As an operator in the world of entertainment, Freddy Burger has assiduously followed the Festival since it foundation and is fully conscious of the importance of its events. For this precise reason, he strove to save such a prestigious meeting and to prevent its sale abroad.

That Freddy Burger, who has entertained business relations with the City of Lucerne for over 30 years, should desire to sustain the Festival in that city has it good reasons: the Lucerne hotel contractor wishes to use the opportunity to promote Lucerne’s location abroad and its matchless scenery. Thanks to his own event firms and to his share in the TV production firm B&B Endemol various specialist requirements and other services in the organisation of the Festival are covered.

The former National League Ice Hockey player Freddy Burger began his professional life as a draughtsman. Yet, as a twenty-year-old, the keen young Zurich sportsman had already made a name for himself as impresario of the pop group Les Sauterelles and as an organiser of pop concerts and dance events. He later gained his national reputation as partner of the Good News concert agency, with its own dance hall, and of the artists agency Rent-a-Show AG. Taking over the management of different artists resulted in a link to international showbiz. Freddy Burger’s partnership with Udo Jürgens and Pepe Lienhard has continued since the 70s up to the present day.

The Freddy Burger Management (FBM) Group has a staff of some 350 employees. In the events sector, FBM with Rent-a-Show controls one of the most important agencies in Switzerland. The range of an average 300 to 400 productions annually covers a broad palette from Opera to Musical, from Dance to Comedy. Rent-a-Show also organises an annual summer festival in Zurich and starring performances of the Cirque du Soleil. In its gastronomy core activity FBM runs a variety of restaurants, clubs and hotels (Hotel Flora in Lucerne, FIFA-Restaurant Sonnenberg and Adagio Nightlife clubs with a branch in Berlin). In addition, FBM manages the Musical Theatre Basel as well as the recently renovated Theater 11 in Zurich.

Through the inter-activity of artist, gastronomic and event management, the FBM group commands an extraordinary synergetic potential and can offer many possibilities for innovative and promising undertakings in the events field. Through a range of independent associated companies and internal experts, project planning and management (Die Event Schweiz AG), TV-production (B&B Endemol AG), public relations (Publicum pmi AG), design (Art & Work AG), bookkeeping, trust and legal advice services (Acribia AG) can be offered.
