João Pedro Lopes

João Pedro Lopes. Economist. CEO of SP Group, which includes SP Televisão, the largest independent Portuguese production company and one of the biggest in Europe in terms of hours of fiction produced; SPi that produced the first Portuguese Netlix series, of which he was an executive producer; and SP entertainment, responsible for the development of successful formats in the unscripted field. He began his career in 1993, with the opening of the television market to private companies, where he joined TVI’s founding team, with the role of Controller in the national production department and later as Assistant Program Director.

Thereafter, he embraced new challenges on the production side, as part of the British production company FIT where he held the position of General Manager between 1997 and 1999. In 1999 he joined the management team of the production company NBP (now Plural), where he held the position of Director of Planning and Control for 8 years, responsible for creating the telenovela industry in Portugal. Since 2017 he is President of the APIT board (Association of Independent Television Producers).
