Robert Fortuijn (53) is head of kids programming at the Dutch public broadcaster NPO. He oversees Zapp and Zappelin, two beloved brands targeted to children aged 3 to 12. Robert transitioned from a career in marketing and communications to fulfill his lifelong dream of creating television content for children. With a career spanning more than two decades, Robert has played diverse roles as a developer, Editor-in-Chief and content manager. His efforts have garnered him international recognition, including awards such as the Prix Jeunesse and Rose d’Or. Through a 360 approach, the Zapp and Zappelin brands reach all children in the Netherlands, combining linear television, digital platforms and live events. Robert’s goal in the field of children’s media is to contribute to shaping the future of children’s content by providing valuable and enriching experiences for young minds.
